In the current decade, Demonetization, RERA, and GST behaved like a Tsunami in the construction industry, and due to this, the market has changed very dramatically, that desperate the core sectors like Civil Engineering. Loss of jobs, unavailability of labor, less new project launches, unable to complete projects, unavailability of funds with the companies, etc. Such kind of incidence especially for the construction industry created a bit confusing to the people, and they started chanting that, Civil Engineering is died now, and can never be lifted again in future. But the fact is different in the upcoming decades. The future is likely to be very different from what we have now.
When we see the recent schemes initiated by the Government, like Housing for all, 100 Smart City, Namami Ganga project, bullet train project , highway projects , Setu Bharatam project, Inland waterways, Rashtriya Rajmarg Zila Sanjoyokta Pariyojna, Chardham Highway project, Sagarmala project, Bharstmala project, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), reflection is entirely different and it will look like an era of Civil Engineers, that already had at the beginning of the developing year. The problem is only that, the civil engineering industry traditionally slower than other industries to adopt new technologies, and it will take some time to skip from stagnation.
So, Upcoming decades of the 2020s are so bright for Civil Engineers due to high demand and construction of structures for making buildings, dams, canals, tunnels, bridges, railway, airports and other things. As per the information from labor industry, the year 2020 will have a maximum number of retirements in the Government organizations like PWD, Irrigation and hence there would be a lot of opportunities in this sector for fresher’s too.
